Story

On October 26th 2018 our daughter Kallipateira was Stillborn just two weeks before her due date. As I held Kallipateira in my arms I made her a promise that I would do her proud and continue her legacy by helping to support other parents who have experienced the death of a baby/babies , and also to help save babies lives.

Kallipateira is the love of my life and in her honour and for her legacy to help save babies lives I will take on my massive 2022 Extreme Challenge Walk.

As Kallipateira’s dad I need to channel my grief into this and raise more funds for Professor Heazell and his team to help save babies lives through research.

On July 16th, 2022 I will attempt to walk from The Tommy’s Research Centre in London (St Thomas’s Hospital) to The Tommy’s Rainbow clinic and Research Centre in Manchester at Saint Marys Hospital. This will be a total of 180 miles straight through and with no sleep. This will be a new record if completed as previous attempts have taken 7 days and if successful, I hope to do this within 60 hours or less.

On May 23rd 2020 we gave birth to our rainbow baby Apollon Alexandros Moorhouse who was born early at 35 weeks at Saint Marys Hospital in Manchester. After the death of Kallipateira and a miscarriage we knew that to give Kallipateira a brother or sister with a better outcome we must be cared for by the best in the UK, Professor Alexander Heazell of The Tommy’s Rainbow Clinic and research Centre in Manchester. Through the world class care and research, they undertake and put into practice, we are proud to say Apollon is a real-life miracle. If it were not for Professor Heazell he would not be here.

Professor Heazell and his teams are the main beneficiary of The Kallipateira Moorhouse Foundation and through our support we will help to save babies lives.

All funds raised for my 180 mile London to Manchester Extreme Challenge Walk 2022 will go to Professor Heazell and his teams.

I ask everyone to please support and donate/sponsor what you can and by doing this you will be making a huge difference for Professor Heazell and his teams and helping to save babies lives nationally.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Best wishes

Ben Moorhouse
