Story
I've run my 2nd Marathon - this time it was Edinburgh on Sunday 23rd May. The first 17 miles were really good, but the last 9 miles were a real struggle. It was a baking hot day, about 25ºC, and nobody I know had a good race in that weather!!
Still I made it round in 4 hours 42 minutes.
I dyed my hair blue for the event, and you can see that in the photos section!
I'm running for the local Riding for the Disabled group, http://www.rda-abingdon.org.uk/
Why RDA? My 9½-year-old nephew, Oliver, has Down Syndrome. He rides with this group most weeks, and really enjoys it. The staff there are all volunteers, and not only are they good with the horses, they are great with the children and adults who go there to learn to ride. They have oodles of patience, and adopt the right mix of encouragement and support. Each rider works at their own pace and without any pressure they learn, and have fun at the same time.
I'm not setting a huge target, nor am I asking a lot in the way of sponsorship. If everyone was to donate just £2.62 (that's 10p per mile) then it will quickly add up to a good amount. I'd rather have lots of people sponsor me just a little, than rely on a few large donations. So come on, you can afford £2.62, can't you? It's less than a pint of beer...
