Growing up and living in Australia for over 30yrs I have always had an affinity with the water, but since marrying a country lass and now living 100 miles from the sea in the hills of the Peak District, it is time to return to the open water. To mark my 40th year, my wife has challenged me to a real swim, 10.5 miles/17.5km in the cold dark waters of the lake district.

Supporting the Anthony Nolan charity will add another dimension to the challenge. Every 20 minutes in the UK someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer, and Anthony Nolan works to find life saving stem cell donors to support these people and their families.
