Updates on cycle training progress at the end...!!!! wk 7 Week 10 update below...!! Sorry not update lately, the high winds and bad weather have severly hampered training, tho still plodding to the gym to work out and swim...!!

Its been a while since i updated my page and so much has happened in the last month, what with Christmas and new Year. But its all systems go, i have a Charity Event that will take place on th 4th of May at the Castle Green hotel in Kendal. Very much a girly night and hope to get lots of lads serving us girls, There will be a fashion show and then hopefully a disco to end. I shall be standing on the walk way in my cycling gear and then during the first half of the show i will have a makeover..should be very exciting to say the least. Still plodding away at the gym tho rides are few and far between at the moment, just want this ice to go as i cant risk having an accident. Keep going and thanks. Well all training came to an abrupt halt 3 weeks ago when i realised i had shingles...Tho this is the most painfull illness i have ever encountered, i shall be getting back on the bike in the next week or so. Feeling the withdrawl symptoms all the time.Plenty of fundraising to be done in the mean time.. so keeping very busy. Have now raised the £1400 for the Skyline site minimun for doing the ride. Just one event planned and thats the biggy..4th May Castle Green Hotel, Kendal...a good night for all you ladies..:)

5 years ago my husband of 35yrs was diagnosed with a form of Leukaemia, as the illness progressed he became blood transfusion dependant... His condition is very rare, all conventional treatments have failed to work. Just over 3 years ago he needed to have regular blood transfusions.. We used to joke they were his 'fuel intake' or 'topup'

Over these last few years the transfusions have become more often and now attends the unit at Lancaster every 2 weeks, without this he would not be walking around today.

This year is a big year for us, i was 60 and Eric will be 65 in November, we also celebrate our 40th Wedding anniversary to. Wow what a year this turned out to be, wish we had realised that back in 1971....!!

Last year i found the Leukaemia care line site, what a breath of fresh air that was for me. I found i could let go of my emotions, chat and write to other sufferers and carers alike. The help has been like lifting a weight of my shoulders, silly tho it may seem. Feel sorry for the Care Line for blasting off tho...writing total rubbish....:O) sorry folks!!

So i want to give something back. Im having a mid life crisis you think, im mad, stupid, crazy...well YES i am, but i really want to do this, raise money for a really good cause. So instead of just thinking of giving a few pounds i wanted to do something for both of us.

So on 6th June next year i will be riding my bike from London to Paris, with lots of like minded people. I bought my bike on the 1st september and have just got used to the gears...who said it was easy to pick up, this 60year old 'wrinkley' had to start all over again. Gears who invented them, last time i had a bike there were only 4 on it.

So far my training over the last 4 weeks had had me out in all weathers. Mileage has gone up to 23miles just under 40K in little over 2hours. Very please and its all down the my lovely neighbour Angela Peruzza for pushing me all the way. So after my 1st months training i am happy with my progress, long may it last..!!

WEEK7 training was really good managed 3 rides this week, tho one of them really hard we managed 36miles in 3hr 50. quite some flat roads but had to tackle some big hills in the first 6miles and then again in the last 6 on the way home.. total climb was 1700ft...so this week 3 rides, total of 60plus miles on the bike....sore bum or what..!!!!!!!!!

WEEK10 Last weeks ride provided me with a very hilly challenge, 3 rides with rather long slow hills. Did a reverse Stavely which gave us a 12.3 miles ride, quick and fast, but reversing it ment we had 2miles plus of a steady hill instead of a free wheelpace. Wednesday brought a new ride, up to Rossil Bridge and up and over Whinfell Tarn, hit a 11% and even walking up with the bike made for very hard work, tho at the top watching 3swans landing on the Tarn was brilliant. Thurs brought a even bigger challenge, Milnthorpe thru Dallam Park and the 'pheasent shoot' not fun. thru Beetham and via Holme undulating, and eventually to Cinderbarrow, nr Carnforth. Reverse the jouney via a little short cut, but gave us a shock with the 10% hill. Needless to say we walked again. i will do these hills one, just not yet. so more updates to follow and keep watching....Thanks for all the donations...Lynda

So keeping popping in to see how im going, will keep you updated..
