Fundraising for Bibs Babies In Buscot Support
We are Big Kids for BIBS, a group of friends raising money to help the charity BIBS (Babies in Buscot Support) buy a much needed new incubator for Buscot Ward, the special care baby unit at the Royal Berkshire Hospital.
The Challenge? On 18th June 2011, we will be undertaking the "Three Peaks Challenge", climbing the three highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales....in just 24 hours.
Why? In November 2010, our friend Chris's unborn daughter Bethany (pictured) accidentally wrapped the umbilical cord around her neck and partially pulled away the placenta. This led to her emergency birth, 3 months early.
Bethany spent 10 weeks of special care on Busot Ward, including 2 weeks in a Giraffe Incubator. While she was there, some babies had to be transferred to hospitals further afield, as the equipment they needed simply was not available.
Having the right equipment can make a huge difference to a baby's chance of survival, and so BIBS are currently trying to raise money for 3 new desperately needed incubators, including a Giraffe Incubator at a cost of £31,000, and other life-saving items such as resucitation equipment, etc.
Please spare a few moments of your time to donate, as much or as little as you would like. You can donate through this page easily and securely - just click on the Donate Now button below. Your data will not be shared, and the money will go straight to the charity, it's the most efficient way to donate.
Thanks to Buscot Ward, Bethany is now home and well, but with your help we can help ensure that the many other babies who desperately need this special care can have that same chance at life.
Thank you for your support!
