Lucy, our 12 year old daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumour on 6th August 2013, as you can imagine this was a huge shock. Lucy was admitted to Birmingham Children's Hospital that evening and underwent a 9 hour operation on 9th August 2013. Fortunately the operation was successful in removing most of the tumour.

Lucy is recovering remarkably well and life is beginning to get back to normal. Whilst further treatment maybe required Lucy is determined to carry on and is back at school part time.

As parents this is your worst nightmare and we will be forever grateful to all the staff at the hospital who continue to help Lucy through this challenge.

The hospital really needs additional funds to improve life and quality of care for the children who are not only treated but live in the hospital sometimes for months.

The neurosurgery unit has plans to improve how brain related operations are carried out. Specifically getting an MRI scanner on the same floor will help the surgeons enormously during operations.

Update - 9th October 2013. We were back at the hospital yesterday for an eye test, scans showed significant improvement, great news !

Following that we met some of the Oncology team including Dr Rodrigues the consultant who lead Lucy's operation and in our book saved Lucy's life.

Dr Rodrigues was really pleased with Lucy's progress and said a big thank you for the fund raising.

Next MRI scan is planned for late November and we meet the Oncology team early December to discuss the results. Hopefully the remaining part of the tumour behaves itself.

Thank you for your donation and we will update Lucys progress over the coming months.
