Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.  I am going to do a parachute jump on 19/06/2011 in aid of Papworth Hospital our nearest hospital dealing with heart and lung transplants.  I will be joined by Kevin Richardson and Tim Sparkes.  The latest addition to our jump is my nephew, Simon Jenkins.

My friend's daughter, Eleanor Rose Richardson, was born 10 weeks early on 23/12/2009 weighing 2lb 9oz and spent 9 weeks in Neonatal Intensive and Special Care Units.  Just as she came home, her Mum, became very ill and had heart failure in August 2010 due to advanced Pulmonary Hypertension (the lungs cause too much pressure on the heart) resulting in her being given 2-4 months to live, which has slightly extended following surgery to insert an IV line into her heart which administers a continuous drug to reduce the heart pressures.  She has been accepted onto the Transplant List for a heart and double lung transplant.  The risks are huge and the average life expectancy is only 5 years after surgery.  1 in 4 do not make it out of surgery.  1 in 10 of those who survive surgery do not make it past 1 month after surgery.  50% die before 5 years.  I am raising money to help Papworth pay for research to help Ellie and other children like her spend more time with their parents in the hope that they can increase the current statistics.  Ellie should also have a brother (George) but sadly he was stillborn at 8 months in October 2006.  100% of all monies donated will benefit Papworth.  A lot of you will know Ellie's Mum, Kristy who also works as a Family Lawyer.  Kristy had wanted to keep the situation quiet.  However, as it started to become common knowledge, she decided that something worthwhile should come out of her situation, hence the current fundraising.  The parachute jump photo on this page is, in fact, Kristy.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Please don't put off donating as Papworth need us to confirm urgently what we think we can raise so we can aim for a specific piece of research equipment.  Please, please hit the DONATE NOW button now.  Thank you.
