Story
Update: 03/06/14
We have some new members to our team, my sister & nieces, Nicola, Emily & Jessica are going to be joining us on the 15th. The girls are training hard and eager to raise as much as possible in memory of their Papa & Uncle - Go EMS & JESS & of course goooooo Nicola too :-)!
23 years ago, we lost my brother Bryan to Leukaemia aged 19 & then 5 years ago, my family was destroyed yet again, when Leukaemia suddenly struck my Dad and took his life, less than 2 months after diagnosis.
The difference we saw in treatment/technology that my Dad got in 2009, than when my Brother was treated in 1991 was phenomenal, showing us first hand that research works and my hope is that a cure is found so that no other family will have to deal with the loss that mine has had to due to this horrible disease.
In 2006, I did my first ever race for life, in Memory of my Brother, my Dad helped me with fundraising, getting sponsorship from all his friend's at the Chestnuts and on the Golf Course. He was at the race along with my Mum & Nick to support me that day and never in a million years did I ever imagine I would be doing this race again in both his & Bryan's memory. Breaks my heart, life is unfair, but you have to pick up, carry on and live everyday to the fullest, turning negatives into positives, which is what I aim to do with my life.
My gym attendance has been very poor recently up until yesterday but now the classes are booked, my running shoes are dusted down & I am ready for some serious training and along with my good friend Fiona, we will smash this and make them proud!!!
Events like Race for Life are vital in funding Cancer Research UK's life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer. I would greatly appreciate your donation, every penny counts.
One day we will beat cancer. Help us make it sooner :-)
Many thanks,
Louise xxx
