PLEASE HELP SAVE DOGS LIKE ME.....
My name is Axel Crawford and I’m one of the luckiest dogs in the world!
Three years ago I used to live in Ireland and my then-owners decided to move out of their house and abandon me, leaving me behind in a cage in the back garden with no food, water or shelter.
Thankfully I was found before it was too late and taken to a pound, before I was picked-up in a big yellow van by the lovely people at Dogs Trust! They cared for me and helped me get better and then flew me to a lovely rehoming centre in England.
And then I couldn't believe my luck, when on my very first day there, I was spotted by Lorna and Mat who fell in love with me instantly!! I was so excited when i knew they wanted to adopt me and spent the next couple of weeks getting to know them and my new friend Inca (a beautiful lady Doberman who they had also rehomed!) before starting my new happy life..... And i have never looked back!
But thousands of my friends are not as lucky as me... Some are still roaming the streets, being abused, or on death-row in dog pounds, which is why the Dogs Trust desperately needs your support in order to rescue and help all of the dogs that are unfortunately unable to help themselves!
Every year Dogs Trust care for over 16,000 dogs at their 17 rehoming centres and that costs a great deal of money... To keep vans going to pick us up from pounds, aeroplanes to fly us over from Ireland, to feed us, keep us warm, to make us better with medicine, to train us and to help us trust humans again! Dogs Trust never destroy a healthy dog and will even give us a caring home for life, if we are unable to be rehomed for any reason.
So many dogs aren't as lucky as me, so please help by supporting my 'Mum' Lorna in her massive challenge of running the Virgin London Marathon on April 25th 2010. She has never done a marathon before, let alone done any running until now, because of her pacemaker - but she desperately wants to succeed in doing this, so that she can give something back to dogs like me and Inca, as we have given so much unconditional love and loyalty, which in her view has really helped her get through a difficult few years of coming to terms with her health condition.
Even if you can only spare £1, we would be very, very grateful, as every pound adds up;
£10 could feed a dog for a month at a re-homing centre
£12 could pay for special training for a dog
£50 could pay for medical treatment to save a dog’s life
£500 could pay for enough dog coats to keep 100 dogs warm over the winter
£1,000 could microchip 50 dogs
Your support will help save the lives of many more dogs like me.
Love,
Axel. xx
