We support people at risk of homelessness to make sure there's a home for everyone

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

As I'm sure you've noticed, the nights are drawing in.

The shortest day of the year is less than 60 days away and, for us this year, that means we'll soon be running through the night on the longest night of the year for Shelter.

On the night of December 21, we're hoping to run the equivalent of more than two marathons, back to back, in the cold and dark, to raise money to tackle homelessness.

Sadly, if you've been to our home city at any point during the past couple of years, you'll probably be aware that homelessness and poor housing is a growing problem in this country, and particularly in Manchester.

It's a situation that is all too easy to fall into, and very hard to get out of.

This Christmas, more than 120,000 children alone will be homeless.

Shelter offers invaluable advice and support to those struggling with homelessness or bad housing, and last year, responded to more than 5 million enquiries.

Their vision is that everyone should have safe, secure and affordable housing.

That shouldn't be too much to ask.

That's why we're aiming to run from sunset on December 21 to sunrise on December 22 to raise money for Shelter and draw attention to the plight that so many sleeping rough or in poor housing face in our towns and cities every night.

Donations will help Shelter's family homelessness service reach UK families to find or retain their home, access healthcare and mental health support, receive employment advice and manage rent arrears and family finances, among other services.

Please donate and help us achieve our target of raising £1,000 for this brilliant charity.
