Sarah Outen (the first woman to row solo across the Indian Ocean) aims to journey right around the planet by land and sea, using a rowing boat, a bike and a kayak.  "London to London: Via the World" will start on 1 April 2011 from Tower Bridge, London and finish back there in the autumn of 2013.  

 

The 20,000 mile journey will take two and half years to complete and includes rowing solo across both the North Pacific and North Atlantic Oceans - a combination that has never before been attempted. Sarah will become the first woman to row solo across the North Pacific; the youngest person to row all of the world's major oceans; and only the third person to do so.

 

Sarah is raising funds during her expedition for Coppafeel, a breast cancer awareness charity aimed particularly at young women.  The goal is to reduce the incidence of late detection or misdiagnosed breast cancer.  This charity is very close to Sarah's heart as her friend Kris Hallenga set up the charity in 2009 when she was diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer.
