Story
Hi everyone and thank you for visiting my "Just Giving" page and donating to my chosen charity - Cancer research.
So why am I going to do such a crazy thing as try to run from London to Brighton, a whole 100km or 62 miles [yes, sixty two!]? Well, I was asked to and I really couldn't think of a good reason why not!

Ok, I'll expand a little more. I've two good running friends - Maggie and Gary Lightfoot, and I've been aware for some time that their eldest daughter has bowel cancer. Rowena who is married with a young son, became ill at only 31, she has had to have a number of operations to control the disease and has yet more operations and chemotherapy treatments planned though 2012.
Back in January they asked me to join their team who will be running and walking the London to Brighton Challenge on the 12th May to raise funds for Cancer Research.
They're also raising money for a number of other charities and groups who are helping support their daughter and their daughter's family while she fights this terrible disease.
There are also a couple of other reasons why I want to do this challenge - I lost my Mum to cancer when she was only 52 and my late Dad was a great distance runner who won the London to Brighton road race in the late 1950's!
I'm not [currently] a distance runner, I've not run a marathon, I've found a half marathon at 13 miles challenging enough, most of my running and races has been shorter off road and fell races, so this truely is a challenge to me both physically and mentally; however, I'm determined to get to Brighton!
Thank you for helping this very worthy cause.
