Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am raising money for the Rosie-May Memorial Fund and will be travelling to Sri Lanka later this year along with a group of other NTU students to volunteer at the Rosie-May Home.

The charity was set up by Graham and Mary Storrie in memory of their 10 year old daughter, Rosie-May, who was sadly murdered at a Christmas party in 2003. The charity aims to give young children the future and opportunities that they deserve, and that Rosie-May was unfortunately denied. They are involved in many different projects including Sheffield Children's Hospital and the Rosie-May Academy which is a performing arts academy set up in her memory due to her love of the arts.

A project that we will be getting directly involved with is the Rosie-May Home in Sri Lanka. For their first Christmas without their daughter, Graham and Mary travelled to Sri Lanka and saw first-hand the effects of the 2004 tsunami. This led to the opening of the Rosie-May Children's Home in 2008. The home aims to improve the lives and futures of young girls who were affected by the tsunami. It offers a safe place for the girls to grow up in a caring, family environment and enables them to receive an education in their local school. The charity also aims to reunite sisters who may have been separated and supports the girls even after they have left the home.

I need to raise a minimum of £500 so please give as much as you can!

100% of the money raised on this page will go directly to the charity.
