Story
On the 27th July 2013, whilst sat on a hotel balcony in Hawaii, we recieved a text message with the most amazing news...there was a new addition to our family. Our beautiful little niece had been born after an amazing 15 minutes of labour. Her mummy, Lucy and daddy, James were over the moon! With a full head of dark hair and cheeks to rival her dads, she immediately captured the hearts of all who met her (in person or facetime/skype).
Unfortunately, a couple of weeks after she arrived, we recieved a phone call to say that she had been admitted to Alder Hey Hospital with suspected meningitis. We all tried to stay positive and she seemed to get better...but this was not the case.
A week later, at 2am Australia time we recieved the worst news possible. She had been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour. Our hearts broke! Family from around the world jumped on planes to support Lucy and James through the most unimaginable situation.
Lucy and James decided to move into Claire House, a childrens hospice that gave them the most amazing help and support during Niamh's illness. Not enough fantastic things can be said about the staff at this wonderful place. They were truly amazing, even giving us somewhere to stay and feeding us whilst we were in the UK. We had a beautiful week with our little niece and we will treasure it for the rest of our lives.
On the 16th September 2013, Niamh slipped away quietly to be with the angels and Grandma Pat and to honour her memory we are raising funds as a family for Claire House for their kindness and love.
We want to raise about $10,000 as a family (the cost of running Claire House for 1 day) and get a day named in Niamh's memory.
Any help in getting us to our target would be amazing!
