Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I will be taking part in the Great North Run in September to raise money for MRDF. I did a sponsored walk for the charity last year, and wanted to do more to support their work in reaching those in need that others can't.
I chose the Great North Run because it starts 400 yards from where I live and as President of Methodist Conference - from July - I could keep the Sunday free! What am I most looking forward to? The end of the race... and raising money for MRDF, of course. The money I raise will support the charity's work with rural communities in the Waf-Washa region of Ethiopia. Although very beautiful, it has steep terrain and is very cold. Failing crops mean that people had to turn to logging in the forests so that they could sell wood as a way to feed their families.
MRDF's partner is supporting these communities with training so they can farm the land in a sustainable way and generate incomes from different sources. This means more money and a greater sense of security. I hope to visit some of these communities in December, with MRDF.
So, I will do my best to train for the event - much prayer and last minute panic, probably - and raise money for this project! Thanks again for visiting my page. Please dig deep and donate now!
