Confirmed acts so far include Uke enthusiast 'Kyle Frazer', the always entertaining Marie Little, and folk session band 'FiddLyn Man Doris'! Please contact us for more details! Update: The concert was a huge success, raising £550!! Thanks so much to the musicians, helpers and everyone who attended. It was an excellent night.
Here we go again! Rob and Lindsey have signed up to do another trek, this time to raise money to support the fantastic work of the Alzheimer's Society.
As many of you will know, Lindsey specialises in working with people with dementia and has worked with the Alzheimer's Society for a number of years.
There are currently over 750,000 people in the UK with dementia, with this figure set to rise to over a million by 2025. Chances are, we will all be affected by dementia at some stage in out lives.
The Alzheimer's Society support people with dementia as well as those who care for or work with them. They provide support groups, organise activities, such as singing for the brain (a personal favourite of Lindsey's), give information in many formats, offer a helpline and online support network, provide training and support for people working with people with dementia, and fund research to find ways to improve the quality of life of people living with dementia.
The trek that we will be doing in June 2011 will scale 4 of England's highest peaks - Skiddaw, Scafell Pike, Scafell and Helvellyn - in 3 days. We will be trekking for 8-12 hours each day, so we had better get training!
We are paying for all of the costs associated with our participation in the challenge ourselves, so every penny of every donation will go straight towards funding the outstanding work of the Alzheimer's Society.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. JustGiving will never sell your details on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
As well as fundraising using this JustGiving page, we will also be organising a number of other events. Please watch this space or check out our facebook pages to see what we are going to be doing.
Many thanks for taking the time to visit our fundraising page. We hope we have inspired you to support us and the Alzheimer's Society.
