Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My son,Daniel ,and I are cycling the Coast to coast cycle route on April17th.
We plan to do the 136 mile route from Whitehaven to Sunderland in 4days. I know that Dan could do it in 1 day but he has his OAP mum as handicap!!I am used to another type of saddle and my horse does the hard work!! We thought we may as well raise some money for our chosen charity at the same time-seemed a shame to waste all the sweat and tears!! I chose Yorkshire Air Ambulance because they offer such a valuable service to this remote area. Nearly every week we hear the chug-a-chug as they soar overhead on another rescue mission.I live in Middleham North Yorkshire and scores of racehorses are exercised on the moors here daily. Accidents are inevitable!
I fell off my horse two years ago and would have been whisked off to hospital by air-but for the ash cloud!! Instead I endured an agonising long road journey with a punctured lung and broken ribs!! This is a challenging area for cyclists-sometimes the conventional ambulances cannot access the casualties. The YAA rely on funding to continue their invaluable work.
Dan chose MIND as his charity; mental illness is so misunderstood.

THURS 16 FEB
Well, freezing rain and black ice last week put paid to my training regime for a couple of days. Next time I will decide to do any crazy stunts like this in summertime. I felt so guilty that my training programme had been interrupted that I pushed back the furniture and logged on to one of You Tube’s aerobics sites. The teacher was inspiring; a sexy, charismatic individual with an encouraging attitude. The warm up was going really well until my Adonis froze in mid stretch as the broadband played catch up and spinned around on the screen. So I carried on with the stretches until the action started again. Off we go -things are hotting up!! Stopped again…so I kept up the repetitions. This was all very well but 15 minutes and numerous pauses later and I realised that I was putting in twice the effort as Mr Adonis! And I was very hot and fighting for breath .I thought I’d pulled a muscle when I crawled upstairs to the shower! My daily 12 mile circuit up and down the hills is easier than that!
Anyway I am in full swing on my bike and have regained muscles that I thought had gone forever! It only takes me 30 minutes to recover from the uphill into Middleham now!
My fundraising is galloping along too! Now I am really committed!!
My son is doing very well for his charity. He is very focused and wanders around his webpage with skill-I fumble about like a woman in the dark!! In fact I had the same helpless feeling last week as I crossed the sheet ice in our yard. More of a problem when leading half a ton of eager horseflesh!!
Anyway I am blethering on now so that is the up-date for now.
A huge thank you to all those generous souls who have sponsored me so far.
Joking apart; I won’t let you down.
21st April
Well we didn't let you down!! We completed the 136 miles(plus a few more to get to our B&B's) in 4 days.We sailed into Sunderland harbour yesterday-and sailed straight past the C2C statue which symbolised the end of the journey!! Our first mistake of the trip!! It was the end of a 50mile day and we were getting tired!! Ken caught us on video camera as we peddled past-it makes hilarious viewing!!I will write an account of our wonderful journey when I get my breath back!! Dan and I are talking about doing another long distance ride!!He mentioned Scotland-I think Holland!!!
Thankyou again to all of our supporters-I haven't made the final count but it must be near £450!!
