Story
I will be going to Nepal in January 2018 for three months as part of the ICS programme with Restless Development. This will involve me becoming a team leader and championing human rights, access to education and sexual health. It will be a challenge of a lifetime that I am awaiting to discover. Thank you for any support: it is much appreciated.
There will be team of 30-40 volunteers working in a rural community, aiding sustainable development by working with the locals to achieve higher levels of educational attainment, empowering young women to make their own decisions (55% of girls under-18 get married in Nepal) and looking to promote young people into the world of work through interview tips and honing employability skills. The placement lasts for three months, however there is an Action at Home stage which will involve being engaged with the local community and fostering social change.
£800 is the target set by ICS for all volunteers going abroad on a programme. Please donate what you can.
ICS works with communities that have specifically requested their help. It also aims to inspire young people in the UK and overseas to become active citizens who are passionate about long term community development.
Restless Development is championing a growing movement, led by a new generation that is more active, more connected and more able to lead the change needed than ever before. Our vision is that young people everywhere are able to demand and deliver a just and sustainable world. In the past 30 years our network of young volunteers has grown to over 17,000 people worldwide. They have trained, inspired and helped more than seven million children, young people, and community members in Africa, South Asia and the UK.
