Story
Righto ... I'll leave the remainder of the blurb on the bottom part of this page. But also add this forward to let you know that I have finally arrived back into the country. At long last I'm back in God's own Country. Australia!
It's great to be back, but a few things have changed of course since I left all those years ago. Not least of which is that everything is very expensive (though much of this is in comparison to the other countries I visited on route). My original plan was to do a tour around Australia before settling down again. But dwindling funds have forced my hand to bring this forward, and so am fast-tracking myself and the Dak' to SE Queensland to seek work. In this regard have already made a start at contacting the job-agencies in the hope of scoring a good job.
So that's it .... play-time's over I guess and will be back into the rat-race soon. But worry not, cos this is Australia, where the sun shines a lot, and the beers always cold. Lenzzzzzzzzzzzzz 25th April (Anzac Day) 2009

As most of you know, I was eventually able to get things organised so I can leave for a once in a life-time trip back to the land of cold beer and BBQ’s overland by motorbike. Rather than it be just me goin’ walkabout, am going to try and do a little bit of good at the same time.
With Sightsavers International as my chosen charity I’m hoping to not only bring in a few bucks, but also raise awareness of their work. Having supported them for a number of years, I kind of like the idea that a little bit of dosh goes a long way. I forget the costs involved, but for a few quid you can literally give someone’s sight back.
To kick things off had the (not so) golden locks chopped off. It all went back on the 2nd Feb, following my 53rd birthday (29th Jan). Everybody who came along was invited to hack off a few locks (for a fee of course), until it was suitably reduced to stubble. After which the final shearing was auctioned off along with a bottle ... correction, it was two. 'Cos the landlord of The Mason's kindly added a 2nd).
It doesn't look as though I'm going to hit my target, but will leave this page to run it's course anyway. But of course will send out my heartfelt thanks to everyone who gave money. Rest assured there are many people in the countries where SS operates, who will have the chance of seeing their world for the first time, because of your generosity.
My travel blog can be found on http://lenz2.blogspot.com/ Though I'm running well behind with it showing me as only as far as Kyryzstan Central Asia. There are also numerous photographs on Flickr:

Right that’s my lot done. The rest of it’s the standard tin-rattling blurb, as added by the Just-Giving website ….
Catch ya later ..... Lenzzzzzzzzzzz
