Story
I am running the 2013 Brighton Marathon in memory of our baby Lena who sadly passed away after only 88 days, most of which she spent at the Trevor Mann Baby Unit (TMBU) at the Royal Sussex Hospital in Brighton.
Lena was born 5 weeks premature with complete bone marrow failure. She was diagnosed at Great Ormond street some 7 weeks after later with Transfusion Associated Graft versus Host Disease (TA-GVHD), an incredibly rare condition that is very difficult to treat.
Every day we spent with Lena was precious. The Doctors and Nurses at the TMBU helped us to make the most of the time we had with Lena by looking after her so well and involving us in every aspect of her care. We cannot thank them enough.
I am fundraising to help support the Early Birth association who are a registered charity for the TMBU and the Special Care Baby Unit at the Princess Royal hospital in Haywards Heath. Your kind donations will go towards the purchase of essential equipment for these amazing baby units.
