So where is this money going and how is it being used?

Scientists at the Breakthrough Research Unit  Edinburgh, for example, have just made a startling new discovery: 4 out of 10 breast cancers change form when they spread. Previously held assumptions that the breast cancer cells remained the same when they spread to the lymph nodes were smashed in the largest survey of its kind conducted by the Breakthrough team of scientists.

And at Breakthrough's pioneering research centre in London, where they have developed a new drug Olaparib, the results from clinical trials are showing great promise - not just as a treatment for patients with heriditary breast and ovarian cancer but also as a potentially effective treatment for many more cancer patients - up to 80% of prostate,ovarian, skin, womb and colon cancers could be treated with this drug - a breakthrough that's been made possible from your help supporting such vital ground-breaking research.
