Story

Thank You - If you are on this page, Thank You, you've made the effort to click the link to see what this is all about.

What am I doing?
About a month ago a friend of mine told me they thinking of raising some money by doing the 3 Peaks Challenge. I've also wanted to do something big to help a charity very close to me called The Turners Syndrome Support Society.

The Three Peaks (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon) are the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales. The challenge is to climb each of these three peaks - one after the other within 24 hours in September!

Why?
My daughter, Mia, who is now 9, was diagnosed with the condition when she was just 14 months. She has taken all the challenges it has thrown her in her short life with ease and I'm confident she will continue to do so throughout the rest of her life. The TSSS is a great charity as it helps build awareness for the condition and puts on regular events so girls and women with TS can meet and talk with each other about the difficulties they face and what they have overcome.

What is TS?
Turner syndrome is a genetic disorder that affects about 1 in every 2,000 baby girls and only affects females.
A girl with Turner syndrome only has one normal X sex chromosome, rather than the usual two (XX).

Almost all girls with Turner syndrome:

1. are shorter than average
2. have underdeveloped ovaries (female reproductive organs), resulting in a lack of monthly periods and infertility

There is no cure for Turner syndrome. Mia is currently on daily injections of growth hormone to help increase her height.

Sponsoring
Those that know me will know that this is going to be a massive undertaking for myself and I'm putting maximum effort into training for this and making sure I don't let down anyone; including those who sponsor me, the amazing group of friends I'm doing this challenge with and also the charity.

I'm aiming big and looking to raise at least £1,000 for this, so please spare what you can.

Thank you again and I'll post some updates on how we are doing with the challenge.
