Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I will be climbing Kilimanjaro which is the highest freestanding mountain in the world at 5,895 metres or 19,341 feet above sea leve!! Quite a daunting prospect and a real challenge! I am joinning a team 14 other RSPCA inspectors in Febuary 2013 .The obvious question is WHY?
As all of my friends and family will agree I have always loved animals and am now in privilaged position to improve many of their lives working for the RSPCA. After a grueling training programme including everything from snake catching to swimming in overalls to sitting exams in animal welfare laws I qualified as an inspector in September 2011. Since then I have been busy working in the North Wales area, picking up injured wildlife, providing lots of animal advice and helping to prevent cruely. One of the more memorable jobs was collecting a very bedragled barn owl soaking wet and thin from a ditch on the Erddig esate which had been founf by a member of the publics dog. It didn't look too hopeful but I took it to RSPCA wildlife hospital stapeley grange and thanks to their expert care I got a call several weeks later saying the owl was ready for release! It was a special moment when I waited till dusk and watched the beautiful animal fly away fit as a fiddle.
The job has also been a real eye opener in terms of the way some animals are treated. It's shocking to see what goes on behind closed doors in what is deemed by many to be a country of animal lovers. Unfortunately the current financial climate is only making matters worse and on a lot of occassions it seems that the animals are the first to suffer when times are hard. I have been called to 3 reports of abandoned pets this week alone.
So because I really believe the work we are doing does make a huge difference I have volunteered for this challenge and hope to raise at least £4000!
Please give what you can and help keep us on the road at the frontline of animal welfare,
Thank you
