Story
Khalil Dale devoted his life to helping others, including some of the world’s most vulnerable people. He was a gentle, kind person, and a committed member of the Red Cross and Red Crescent family for more than 30 years.
Khalil first worked overseas for the Red Cross in 1981 in Kenya, distributing food and improving the health of people affected by severe drought. He also worked in Sudan, Somalia, Afghanistan and Iraq, before his posting to Pakistan with the International Committee of the Red Cross.
In other words, he did not shy away from taking on tough assignments in the name of improving the lives of others. He was a brave man who had the utmost respect of his colleagues at the Red Cross and the humanitarian world.
Set up at the request of Khalil’s friends and family, this fund will be used by the Red Cross to tackle disasters in countries Khalil had a connection to.
Khalil had so many stories which he shared with many of you. We’d like to collect as many of these as possible so they can be collected and reproduced in a format that everyone can enjoy and appreciate what an amazing man he was. Please forward your memories or favourite stories that Khalil shared with you to Anne at khalilstories@gmail.com.
