Story
On 26th June 2010 we cycled from
Reading to Bath - a journey of 90 miles (145 Km) - all in one day. The journey
skirted along the Kennet and Avon Canal and climbed over the Berkshire and
Wiltshire Downs. We were expecting it to be quite a challenge and it was. The weather was exceptionally hot and each of us drank around eight litres over the course of the day! (OK - the last two of those were in the pub at the end.)
We did this in aid of the Prostate Cancer Charity. Prostate
cancer is the most common cancer in men. Someone we met in the same pub in Bath told us that his Father had died of the disease at the age of only 45. In the UK, 35,000 men are
diagnosed with the disease every year. The mission of the charity is to
fight prostate cancer on every front - through research, support,
information and campaigning. They already provide specialist support to
thousands of men afflicted by the disease and need funding to continue
with this and all of their other activities.
So many thanks for visiting our page. Please dig deep to help the Prostate Cancer Charity and make our cycling challenge worthwhile.
We're also part of Team Green Britain Bike Week 2010 (see http://www.bikeweek.org.uk/event_search.php?pagemode=display&event_id=760).
