We fund bone cancer research & grant wishes to seriously ill people #makingmemories

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

First of all sorry about the war and peace i just want everyone to get a feel of who i am, what i would like to achieve and why.

I am aiming to compete in a One day event (BE80) on my fantastic horse Billie in order to raise as much money as i can for the Hannah Willberry's wonder Pony Charity.

The charity aims to support vital research into osteosarcoma and to grant equine related wishes to seriously ill people and their families.

This is a registered charity close to my heart as I have family members and friends who have been affected by cancer in one way or another.

Please help me achieve my goal of raising £5000 by sponsoring me through this challenging year and i will make sure there are regular updates to show everyone how we are working towards this mammouth challenge :-)

Blog/Vlog will be created - I'm not the best with technology so please bare with me!

About me and my journey so far.........

Over the years i have had a few different horses but i didnt truely fall in love until i got a 14.1 pony called Sox. Sox was an energetic jumping pony who was occassionally grumpy but he was my boy :-) Over time i rode him less and less due to work commitments and i started to loose my confidence in the saddle. I finally decided to sort myself out and moved him to a fantastic livery yard with a very friendly and supportive owner.

I was so excited to get back in the saddle and build our ridden relationship back to where it was. I had plans of fun rides, clear rounds and maybe even "stressage"

After being at the yard for only 4 weeks, i arrived one morning and noticed Sox wasnt himself. To cut a long story short he had severe colic and i had to have him put to sleep that day. It broke my heart and by this point my confidence was on the floor. The fantastic yard owner was amazing and arranged most things for me in regards to Sox and i can never thank her enough for that.

I debated whether to try and fill the horse shaped hole in my life or not (im a horsey girl through and through so wasnt much of a debate).

After 6 months of mourning i started searching for my new best friend and after sitting on many wonderful horses of various shapes and sizes i met Billie.

Billie was ten minutes down the road so i had no reason not to go and have a look at him. I had seen a couple of side profile pics and thought he was quite handsome. when i arrived for the first viewing my initial thought was that he was quite big! compared to my little 14.1 Sox he seemed like a giant standing at 15.3.

I entered his stable and he was a gent and let me brush him, pick up his feet and touch his ears.

He was tacked up and i watched a friend of the owner ride him and then it was my turn! I was terrified, i dont know what knocked my confidence so much but i was really doubting my ability and worth to actually sit on such nice horses.

I scrambled on (all 5'1 of me) and walked round the school with my heart in my mouth. Rigid with nerves and fear that i would look silly or worse fall off. Bill plodded round steady and calm until i relaxed enough to ask for trot. He was an angel even though a little stuffy, I decided I had my brave pants on and went for a few strides of canter which made me smile from ear to ear and he ambled round the school in canter happily.

I went to see Billie 5 times in total and nearly didnt buy him due to failing the vetting due to a minor issue with his eye but i just couldnt stop thinking about him as he made me as happy as i was in the early days with Sox.

Im not going to lie, Billie hasnt been the complete angel that he was that day. We have had tough times when i have come hurtling off him and cried before i even hit the floor but together we have built a bond and improved tenfold. In the couple of years that i have owned him i have lost my confidence to the point i didnt want to ride him at all to going out and doing our first one day event at 70cm (we came last but it was the best experience ever!!)

We now go out once or twice a month to a variety of events including combined training, xcountry clinics , show jumping classes and wobbleberry camps. We do everything small and low level but i would love to confidently compete a BE80.

This challenge is so personal to me as i know what its like not to be confident and giving up could be the only option. I have family member that have been affecting by Cancer and would happily do anything i can to raise money to aid research and hopefully a cure of this disgusting disease.

My Commitment

I know that i need to improve my general fitness , loose weight and create a training plan to achieve my goal. I know there will be good days and bad that i know i can share with my fellow fund raisers.

I will put regular updates on this page, Blog/Vlog and also Facebook and i have teamed up with another member to train with :-)

I will do as much fun stuff as i can eg: bake sales, run competitions, raffles and anything else i can thing of. Im open to suggestions too.

thank you for reading my life story!!! any support is much appreciated and together lets #beatcancersbutt
