This was a silly idea that (like most silly ideas) started over a drink in a pub in 2011.  For various reasons (work mainly, and being a bit of a chicken) I decided not to do the cycle in 2011.  With another birthday came the realisation that it isn't going to get any easier as I get older, so I've paid up the deposit.  My uncle (yes, he's 54 and fitter than I am) is going to be cycling with me to.

I thought it would be a great excuse to raise some money for Cancer Research UK.  We will be paying for the whole trip ourselves so all donation proceeds will go to this fantastic charity.

The whole trip is around 1,000 miles and we will be doing it over 14 continuous days of cycling.  Each day we will cycle between 65 and 100 miles.
