Story

COMPLETED!!

Have managed to survive the triathlon and even come some where fairly respectable on the swim and cycle (although last person in on the full 10km run - never was my strong point but still beat my personal best!)

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAVE SPONSORED ME ON & OFF LINE!

IF YOU DIDN'T MANAGE TO DO IT YET YOU STILL CAN SPONSOR ME NOW I HAVE SURVIVED!!

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

The triathlon is to fundraise for the Aplastic Anaemia Trust, which supports people suffering from this disease that affects the bone marrow & blood. You can find out more at:

www.theaat.org.uk

At least 91p of every £1 that you donate will go directly to SAVING LIVES.  Because Aplastic Anaemia is so rare, the AAT do not attract the same interest or funding as major charities.  The AAT are TOTALLY DEPENDANT on funds raised by charitable efforts.

The triathlon is really an event to fundraise more than test my athletic ability - I aim to complete each part, but I won't be racing! Its a 1km swim in the serpentine, followed by 10km 'run' around Hyde Park, then 80km bike ride outside Paris.

April 06:

To prove I can do the distance, I have just done (not really run.. more of a jog/walk) 10km - so can do it but will be feeling the pain tomorrow (already have the blisters!).

Next target is to see if I can cycle anywhere near 80km without losing the ability to walk!

UPDATE MAY 06:

Just received my T-shirts for the run and cycle and a zip up sweat top emblazoned personalised by Tomkins for this year's event - so a lasting momento to remind me I can do it!

Also the cycle shirt is a sunny yellow - reminiscent of the yellow jersey in the Tour de France - don't think I be quite up to that competition standard but it will be fun pretending!

Good news - after pulling a muscle in my foot that has now healed, I'm back on track for training. The run is still going to be the most difficult part, but have done the swim in 35 minutes - so getting there!

Got the bike serviced last Friday - it only has 5 gears so I may be pushing it up that hill! But hey it better than buying one - so thanks to Sharon for lending it to me!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Aplastic Anaemia Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me and the rest of the Tomkins team now! Your donations will go further as Tomkins is matching what we raise! www.justgiving.com/tomkins

Many thanks for your support.
