Story
On Monday 21st February 2011 Kathy Galer completed a sponsored swim for the ‘ME’ Association.
Her aim was to raise awareness of the illness and collect as much money as possible so that a cure could be found. Her father (Paul Galer) contracted the illness whilst still working and for the first 6 months slept for 20 hours every day. Some years later he still suffers with muscle fatigue and short term memory loss (just some of the symptoms sufferers have to endure). Paul, like others, tries not to let it affect his life too much but others are suffering far more severe effects.
Kathy did aim to swim 1km (she has previously only been able to swim 300 meters) but as Paul did not count the laps properly she completed a grueling 2km in just 1 hour and 20 minutes.
After the swim Kathy recovered in her favorite pub, The Black Swan, where she collected a massive £70 in just a couple of hours.
Kathy would like to thank ‘Vecktor’ for supplying the T-shirts, Clare and Thomas at K2 for organizing the lane and allowing her to swim, also Maya Thomas and Tony Britton at the ‘ME’ Association.

Dear All,
I have set up this page for my Dad.
He has been suffering with ME for about 12 years now.
I am organising a sponsored swim to help raise money for the ME Association, the more people donate the more chance the association has finding a possible cure, or helping improve his and many others lives.
The swim will take place at K2 Crawley on the 21st February 2010.
I am not the best of swimmers, and haven't swam for almost a year! However when I do it regularly I am just about capable of swimming 600 meters in 30 minutes.
So my aim is to swim 1000 meters for my challenge. I have not set a time limit as such but based on 600 meters, I will aim to do the 1000 meters in approximately 1 hour.
I will be taking the next few months to train as hard as I can, and every ones support would be most appreciate.
