Dear friends,
The cards and emails have started flowing in, full of kind wishes for my 40th year, which will start on Thursday the 26th of February. A few people have asked what I'd like, to which I am replying nothing...EXCEPT...well, you could help assuage the guilt I am feeling about not having reached my fundraising target for last year's Flora London Marathon.
Yes, a MARATHON! Me! I know...hard to believe! Actually it was my second, and although it was 40 minutes faster and lots more fun than the first I still feel as if I HAVE FAILED. You see, I was only able to run it thanks to an amazing charity called Help the Hospices. I have been a huge fan of the hospice movement since 2000, when my father spent his final days in St. Mary's Hospice in Rochester NY. It made such a difference to us as a family to know that the hospice nurses were doing everything in their power to reduce his pain and make him comfortable. It was such a relief for everyone, but especially my mother, to be able to stop relating to him as a patient and focus on him as a person; to be able to spend quality time with him in peaceful surroundings. So I wanted to do what I could to support Help the Hospices in their work in the UK and worldwide. And last year I let them down.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me make it up to them! Even the tiniest amount will be appreciated. Consider going without that latte, beer or glass of wine for a day. Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Help the Hospices gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
Love,
Kass
