Our beautiful baby Freddie got into some difficulty before I went into labour and therefore the team at Poole Hospital decided he needed to be born immediately. After delivery he had hypothermia and was covered in meconium. Due to the trauma he had a couple of infections and needed to stay in the neonatal unit for 8 days.

The neonatal team worked relentlessly to ensure the speedy recovery of our new son, but their work didn't stop there. During our stay in hospital they not only helped Freddie through his tough time, but supported both Richard and myself when neither of us knew how to react to what was happening. We got to see first hand how much the team truly care about the scarily large number of babies who need a little help after they've been born. The care we received as a family couldn't have been any better.

Our gorgeous Freddie is now in tip top condition and couldn't be any healthier, but we don't want to forget the teams who acted quickly and quite possibly saved our baby's life.

So Rich and myself will be running the Bournemouth 5k together on October 5th to raise awareness of this fantastic hospital unit and show our genuine appreciation. Having had a c-section just 13 short weeks ago this will be no easy challenge for me so any support from our friends and family for this cause will make it all that bit easier ;-)
