Story
"Working For the Children of Watamu" is a charity set up by local Blackpool Landlady Sue Hayward. To cut a long story short they have been building schools and are now setting up "Happy House", an orphanage.
After hearing about this work, my brother Joseph (11) and sister Emma (9) decided to do a Sponsored Bike Ride around Stanley Park to raise money for these children.
Any donation small or large is welcome. There are many items on the charities wish list, for example: Fruit trees @ £5 and Chickens @ £1 each so if you can only spare £2 (minimum) please do, it's worth it!
Update 21.01.10 the Happy House is nearly ready for opening, so we'll be doing some more sponsored events soon so the children have everything they need when they arrive
Update 30.11.09 we've got our family involved and continued to raise money through charity donation boxes collected by David Fineman at Fleetwood Market and Trevor & Christine Aspinall at Torsway Wine StoresUpdate 12.10.09 Hailey has been volunteering writing to companies for donations big and small and managed to bag 10 TV's from Reliant TV for the orphanage, so the children can watch educational programmes and DVD's.
Update 15.09.09 our mum - Jackie Fineman was in the Blackpool Evening Gazette's Eve Supplement today to promote "Add a Happy House Kid to Your Shopping List"
Update 27.08.09 after the success we've had over the past 3 months, we will be taking part in Blackpool's "Ride the Lights" bike ride on 01.09.09 at 8pm to continue to raise money
Update 19.05.09 our picture and story is on the front page of Blackpool Evening Gazette's Eve Supplement today (as above)
