In September a group of over 20 people from Allen & Overy's offices around the world will be taking part in a four day trek in Jordan, from the Dana Reserve to the ancient city of Petra, to raise £70,000 for our charity partner War Child.

The money raised from this trek will go directly to War Child.  The trip will be fully funded by the participants and the firm, so any contribution that you make will go directly to War Child.  In addition to the £2,000 that we are each raising, Allen & Overy will add another £1,000 per person on top.

Our fundraising efforts on this trek are part of Allen & Overy's two year global partnership with War Child.  The partnership started in 2016 and reached its initial goal to fund the Rescue Childhood Centre in the Emirati-Jordanian refugee camp in less than 12 months.  The firm has now extended its target and will support War Child across all the countries where they work.

Less than 3% of humanitarian aid is spent on child protection in conflict-affected regions. War Child (www.warchild.org.uk) is a charity that protects, educates and stands up for the rights of children in war. They reach out to children as early as possible when conflict breaks out and stay on to support them, keeping them safe, giving them an education and equipping them with skills for the future.  War Child is currently working in seven countries and aiming to reach 260,000 children by 2019, in striving for a world in which no child's life is torn apart by war.  War Child's work focuses on four key areas:

• Protection
• Education
• Livelihoods
• Campaigning
