Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In the early 2015 cricket season, I was busy pulling muscles whilst friends shamed me by achieving respectable marathon times. Under the assumption that my body was rapidly falling apart, I made the logical decision to run the 2016 London Marathon.
I’ve been lucky enough to be awarded a ‘Gold Bond’ place to run for Oxfordshire I.M.P.S. (Injury Minimization Programme for Schools), part of Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals Charitable Funds – the organisation that I work for at present. Each charity only has five gold bond places to give away, so it is important that I do not waste this opportunity to raise as much as possible.
The aim of I.M.P.S. is to reduce death and disability as a result of accidents and give children basic first aid skills. The programme targets children between the ages of 10 and 11 who statistically are at greatest risk, by teaching in school and hospital environments. Every week, groups of Year 6 children from Oxfordshire visit hospitals around the area to learn what to do if someone is choking or unconscious, and how to prevent accidents happening in the first place. I.M.P.S’ work has been recognised with a 'Laser' award by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (ROSPA).
I have pledged to raise £1,500 for this amazing cause. If you can donate, anything you could spare would be greatly appreciated and would contribute to the great work I.M.P.S. do.
