Story
The World Transplant Games happens every two years, this year the team are taking well over 150 competitors and they all have to raise the money themselves.
The Games is one of the greatest ways to promote Organ Donation and how it affects everyone.
When I was born I was diagnosed with a liver disease called Alpha 1 anti-trypsin deficiency, the hospital knew that I would need a transplant in order to live, however liver transplant surgery wasn’t very advanced in the 1980s and the drugs had lots of nasty side effects. So I was very lucky to be able to wait until I was 8 before my health deteriorated and I needed to go on the transplant list. In 1997, King’sCollegeHospital had found a donor for me, and I received the liver transplant I needed in order to survive.
Before my transplant I didn’t have a social life and I didn’t do any kind of activities, I use to stay at home and watch TV all day. It wasn’t really the kind of life a child should have.
After my transplant I was so full of life, if you know me now then you will know just how outgoing and crazy i can be. I cant thank my donor and their family enough for what they have given me. So much has change and I realize just how lucky I am to have had an organ transplant. Organ Donation really is the greatest gift you can give.
This Year I'm taking part in the world transplant games and i am having my legs waxed to try and raise money for me to go to Oz :)
So please donate as much as you can, and i will be willing to let people pull strips but donate first :)
I will post the date its happenin and a video of it when i know and have done it :)
