Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am setting off from London in an attempt to complete the Broadgate Estates Cycle to Cannes. On Thursday, 7th of March, I will be joining approximately 80 other riders setting off from London and aiming to cross the “finishing line” at Cannes.
The Cycle to Canne’s route totals 1509.2 km, around 938 miles, and is broken down into 6 days:
Day 1: London – Calais
Day 2: Calais Reims
Day 3: Reims – Dijon
Day 4: Dijon – Valence
Day 5: Valence – Aix-en-Provence
Day 6: Aix-en-Provence – Cannes
Please also see the map in pictures. Each day is then broken down further into 2-6 stages, each consisting of around 40-60km, resulting in a total of 28 stages. For full details of the Broadgate Estates Cycle to Cannes please visit their website http://www.cycle2cannes.org/.
The main reason I am doing this cycle ride is to raise money for the Karen Green Foundation, which is a Nottingham based charity launched in memory of Karen Green who lost her battle to Leukaemia in July 2011. The Foundation works to raise funds for organisations and individuals researching, treating and fighting leukaemia and cancers of the blood. The Foundation also aims to provide small grants to individuals that can make a difference to their life, whether that’s through providing an essential piece of equipment or help with transport costs. To find out more about the Karen Green Foundation please visit their website http://www.karengreenfoundation.com/.
I’m attempting to complete all 28 stages of this challenge and, by doing so, raise more money for the Karen Green Foundation. While you can sponsor me by donating one off amounts, I would greatly encourage you to sponsor me by the number of stages that I complete, i.e. pledging to give a certain amount for each of the 28 stages completed. You could also pledge to double your donation if I manage to complete all 28 stages, and if I don’t do them then I will match the amount...! If you would like to pledge a donation for each stage please e-mail me on Joncollins@nottinghamlabour.org.uk so I can let you know how many stages I completed. You can also follow my progress on this site and on twitter.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Many thanks for your support.
