Story
Our names are Jon and Becky White; our aim is to raise as much money as possible for the two charities below by completing the Devizes to Westminster 125mile kayak race! We are estimating the race will take us 30 hours non-stop, including 77 portages! Many people enter this race but our situation is slightly different!
On 16 June 2010 Jon was serving with 40 Commando Royal Marines in Afghanistan and during a routine patrol stood on an IED, it changed our lives forever! Jon was very seriously injured, losing both his legs above the knee and his right arm through the elbow. So this obviously makes this race slightly more complicated for us!
We are training hard and have a fantastic support crew who will help us achieve this goal, they will be equally as tired by the end of this. We would love it if you could sponsor us to try and raise as much money as we can for the two charities below who have helped us and many others through difficult times.
There is a change in plan, Bex can no longer do the Race so CSgt Lee Waters has kindly replaced her in the front seat! Lee is a most worthy candidate, he was Jon's Troop Sergeant on Op Herrick 12 and was also injured. He recieved multiple gun shot wounds to his face, hand and ankle.
We hope you can still see the challenge and find it within you to support us!
