Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My name is Joel James and I am nearly 11 years old. I was born with spastic diplegia cerebral palsy which means that the part of my brain that sends the messages to my legs to tell them how to work is damaged. This means that my leg muscles are always contracted causing spasticity which is really uncomfortable and quite painful at times. I need to wear leg splints both during the day and at night. I also need to use a wheelchair for any distance, as I am unable to walk very far; I fall over a lot because I can’t balance.
My dream is to be able to walk properly and run around and play football with my friends and to play for my school football team.
My family and friends are trying to raise £50,000 for a specialist operation to cure the spasticity and give me the chance of a normal life free from pain and dependency on others. The operation is called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) for short.
So please help to make my dreams come true! Donate now. Remember to tick the gift aid box of you are a UK tax payer.
