Your loving son, Joel.

As a child, I always thought that cancer was one of those things that would never affect me. Mum and Dad are invincible, I thought.
I’m not ashamed to admit that I was the world biggest mummy’s boy. Whether it was at swimming competitions, school plays, or just cooking at home on a Tuesday night, she was the ever-present guiding force in my life. I couldn’t imagine life without my mother. She was at the very centre of my existence. I mean, of course she was, she was my mother.
In 2008 my mother was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. Despite undergoing the best treatment available, she passed away in 2009. She was 46. I was 14.
In 2010 my father, a GP who has spent his entire career fighting disease, set up Inspired Living. At Inspired Living, our aim is to raise £1 million for CRUK, and inspire people to pursue healthier more active lifestyles.
So far Inspired Living has raised a staggering £230,000 by completing challenging trans-European rides. But there is still a long way to go.
This August, along side the Inspired Living team, I am cycling from Winchester to Rome to raise money for CRUK. A gruelling 1140 miles in 13 days.
We dream that within our lifetimes, all cancers will be cured. We dream of a world free of such needless suffering. We dream of a world where loved ones are no longer unjustly robbed from us before their time. With every penny raised, we help fund the research that brings that dream closer to reality.
My aim is to raise £1000. Every donation, even those as little £5, are highly appreciated and I will personally message all those who donate with thanks.
Together by donating our time and money, we can help beat cancer soon.
I’m doing my part in the fight against cancer, please do yours and donate.
