Story
I've finally managed to secure a place in the London Marathon this year on 22nd April and I'm running the 26 miles in memory of my Dad. We sadly lost my Dad back in December 2010 to Myeloma - he was only 57. My Dad used to stand and watch me cross the finish line when I ran previous half marathon races and I'm sure he'll be with me all the way through the London Marathon.
It will be a very tough challenge for me, but definitely worth it if, with your help, I can raise some money for Myeloma UK. To add to the occasion, the race day will actually be the day of my 30th birthday! So as well as the physical pain of running the marathon, I have to deal with the mental anguish of no longer being in my 20's...!
Each year in the UK, nearly 4000 people are diagnosed with Myeloma. There is currently no cure for this second most common type of blood cancer, but treatment can halt the progress of this disease & improve quality of life. Myeloma UK rely almost entirely on voluntary donations, so please give what you can.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
