Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As you probably know I’m training for the Tough Mudder in May.  The whole point of me doing this event is to raise money for a cause that is very important to me and those I care about.  I would really appreciate any sponsorship no matter how big or small.   Here's a little bit about what I'm doing and why...

The Cause

Pete Dowen, a close friend of our family and father to my friend James was diagnosed with a rare form of pancreatic cancer last year.  The Freeman hospital have given him excellent care with the knowledge that they have but due to lack of funding, research and knowledge has been limited.  His family have set up a trust in his name to fund the much needed research in the hope that in future, more help can be given to families affected by this rare form of the truly awful disease.

The Event

When I heard about what James and his brother were doing to raise money, I automatically wanted to get involved.  It wasn’t until after I agreed that I really realised what I had let myself in for.  All the same I have no regret if I can help to raise money for such a great cause.  So this is what I’m letting myself in for...

“Tough Mudder events are hardcore 10-12 mile obstacle courses designed by British Special Forces to test your all around strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie.”

The course includes swimming through icy cold water, running through electric fences and scrambling through stinging nettles to name just a few of the obstacles.

There are over 50 of us doing this event for Pete and his charity. Being one of the two females taking part, I’m training super hard to show a bit of girl power.  There is also a competition to see who can raise the most money so it would be great if I could show the boys up in more ways than one!  The event is on May 12th.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
