Channel swimming 2008 · 21 May 2008
Hi and thanks for taking the time,
The English channel is the busiest shipping lane in the world, it is big, dirty cold and in the warmer weather has jellyfish!
Add to this the fact that this is me, Jen, doing this and I hope you will agree I am worthy of your hard earned cash for this fantastic charity Richard House!!
Why do I find this so scary?
Visability is so poor I can barely see my hand entering the water ahead of me makes me think about those horror movies, the ones where monsters are lurking in the deep and grab your feet and pull you under! Irrational I know but after 40 minutes in cold water the mind wanders!
I sleep with two duvets on my bed most of the year from which I am sure you can gather I am a bit of a princess! Training in 12 degrees in Dover Harbour is not made for princesses!
Anyone who knows me will tell you I am not a morning person, but I have been getting up at 6am on Saturdays to get to Dover (to enjoy those 12 degree swims!)
I am dedicated to this and 100% signed up so please please sponsor me for this worthy cause!
Want to have a look at our experiences complete with funny photos have a look at the blog below:

Many thanks
Jen
