Story
Thank you for visiting my mums fundraising page. This page is in memory of my mum Jean Driscoll. Who died suddenly on 02.04.2009 aged 73 Mum has been a giver all her life. She has been caring for others, first as a Nurse, then as a social worker and lastly as a project manager for a housing Association managing a halfway house for Schizophrenic people as well as managing various retirement homes for the elderly.
The last 2 years of her life were spent in some pain and embarrassment due to a mystery illness that the NHS doctors sadly failed to treat properly. It is a real shame that for someone like mum who devoted her life to helping others to be ignored and abandoned by the NHS at a time when she really needed help herself.
Mum recently started to get some outside help due to some surprising media coverage she received after telling her story to a local radio show. The story snowballed and was all over the national and international press. Mostly the response from the general public was great. One of the good ones was from P&H Complementary Therapies who gave over 20 hours of their time free of charge, giving counselling and hypnotherapy as well as dietary advise. This is more time than the NHS gave to her over the 2 years of her illness. Thank you P&H
This page was set up so that people could donate to water aid, mums favourite charity. In addition to or instead of sending flowers to her funeral. Thanks to everyone who donates. This charity was really close to her heart and when the national press were trying to buy her story, mum simply asked that they donate to water aid instead.
We love you mum and will miss you forever.
RIP
