We enable the creation of marine reserves to reverse the crisis in our oceans

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On the 17th September, I will be part of a group taking on the 2017 London to Monaco cycle ride in support of our friends at the Blue Marine Foundation to continue their amazing work protecting the World’s Oceans. Covering over 1,400kms and 19,000m of vertical climbing the 10 day ride will be quite a challenge, and one I am looking forward to surprising myself and others in completing!

The Blue Marine Foundation’s mission is simple – to place at least 10% of the world’s oceans under protection by 2020. Established in 2010 by the team behind the film ‘The End of the Line’, which brought the world’s attention to the crisis of over-fishing, The Blue Marine Foundation was set-up to enable the creation of marine reserves and establish models of sustainable fishing. They have already achieved a huge amount, raising in excess of £12 Million to fund vital projects such as the creation of a marine reserve around Ascension Island, and forming a designated network of marine protection areas in the Aeolian Islands, to name a few. For more detailed information on the various other conservation projects run by Blue, please explore the following link – http://www.bluemarinefoundation.com/projects/.

The London to Monaco cycle ride was founded in 2016 by Winch Design and proved an huge success in promoting awareness amongst the yachting industry. This year we aim to hit a fundraising target of £250,000 and I would be incredibly grateful of your support through a donation to this page.
