Story
The time has come again for me to announce that I have reluctantly but excitedly decided to participate in the 2013 Trois Etapes after such a “riveting” experience of pain and joy in equal measures had last year. Trois Etapes is a thrilling and competitive pro-am cycling event which takes place in the French Alps over 4 days which allows aspiring MAMIL’s like me to compete against a few of the best in the world and many others who take their cycling pretty damn seriously (for background on MAMIL explanation see this link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-10965608 although you’ll be happy to know I have NOT fallen to peer pressure and taken a razor to my legs..!). Trois Etapes occurs this year between 26-29 July and tackles Alp giants l’Iseran, Glandon and Madeleine in addition to a day one prologue in the form of an individual time trial.
The worthy charity my team rides for this year is the dZi Foundation. By supporting me and the dZi, you will directly help underserved communities in Nepal build essential infrastructure such as new schools, community centers, toilets and drinking water systems, and introduce new agricultural techniques to improve community food security. You can find more out about dZi here: http://dzifoundation.org/index.php?t=home&menu=home
Last year the event raised $1.7mln and was televised by Eurosport and obviously the targets for this year are even higher. I have a large fundraising target and I am acutely aware of the austere environment we live in so I am delighted to announce that I personally will match your donation and my venerable employer Bank of America Merrill Lynch will match the amount that I donate so effectively whatever you donate will be multiplied by three! I hope that gives you a small further incentive to back me and dZi. Here is my fundraising page: http://www.justgiving.com/jarett-gedir1
More about the event is here if you care to have a gander at route details and the teams, charities and professional cyclists involved this year: http://www.troisetapes.org/
I promise to bust my ass on behalf of you as my donors and dZi!!
