Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
I'm going to be running my first ever race on the 9th November 2008. It is a 3.8K race - I wanted to find something achievable for my first race. I started running over the summer and have followed the Couch to 5K running programme mainly as a way to spend more time outdoors and get fit at the same time. Running in a race gives me an opportunity to raise some money for a worthy cause.
I've chosen to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society as my Mum suffers with dementia and so I appreciate first hand how upsetting and hard this illness is for both the sufferer and friends and family.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Alzheimer's Society gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
20th October - Thanks to the generosity of my family and friends, I've increased my target to £400 - Thanks all!
25th October - I've increased my target again - up to £500 now. Thanks guys!
26th October - been for a practice run as near as I can to the race circuit - my sportstracker trail can be found
here27th October - And I've increased that target to £600 due to your support and generosity. I'm really, really grateful all.
9th November - Race Day - I did it in 21:50 which was about 3 minutes quicker than the time I was aiming for. There were a lot of serious runners in the race who flew around, but I paced myself reasonable well. I GPS recorded my run, and whilst it isn't very accurate, you can take a look at it
here. You can also read my thoughts of the day
here. Thanks again!
