I am volunteering to work overseas in developing countries with VSO. VSO is an international development charity that works through volunteers.
Instead of sending food or money, VSO sends skilled professionals to make an everlasting difference. VSO volunteers work in partnership with colleagues and communities to share skills and learning and achieve positive change together.
I am aiming to raise £1500 to help VSO to continue their vital work in developing countries. This money does not go towards my own personal overseas placement, VSO decides to use it where it is most needed.
For example:
- £1500 can help VSO keep a physiotherapist in Ethiopia, training local students and professionals in rehabilitation for amputees.
- £1500 can help VSO keep an HIV and AIDS specialist in Tanzania, training local professionals and students to prevent HIV in newborns.
- £1500 can help VSO keep a doctor in Uganda, helping local people and medics fight malaria for the long term.
- £1500 can help VSO keep a teacher-trainer in Nepal, establishing access to good education for the poorest children.
