Stroke for Stroke 300km row · 9 December 2007 ·

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the leading charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

UPDATE:

I am glad to say I completed the 24 hours, it was so much harder than i ever expected. I managed to do a distance of 204,398m, a long way short of what I had hoped, but i am still very pleased. I realised just how hard this was going to be after around 4 hours, and just how difficult it is to use your whole body for that length of time. There were many breaks and a lot of stretching!

Mel managed a distance of 103,000m and struggled through pain in her back from the first 7000m. This was much more of a mental challenge than it was physical and although our bodies were struggling the temptation to give up was always there through the night. Gladly we didn't give up and we're both proud of what we've done.

Thanks to Arron, The Stroke Association, Siemens Stroke for Stroke and all the people that came to the gym and offered encouragement, especially those that were there at the end and brought bacon sandwiches!

Hi

I am attempting to row for 24 hours and hoping to hit a target of around 300,000 metres for Stroke for stroke week. I will start at 1pm on Friday 7 December and finish at 1pm the following day at my local gym, Sunset in Scarborough.

Mel, a personal trainer, will be accompanying me and attempting to row 12 hours with a target of 150,000.

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Stroke Association will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.
