Story
From the 5th of March 2008, Sarah and Perry will be in Cambodia for 2 years working as volunteers in VSO's programme of international development. Cambodia's past has been troubled and it continues to face many challenges as it attempts to recover. Our jobs are to try to help the Cambodian people with this process.
Sarah is working with a range of Government and Non-Government Organisations to compile a report on equalities within the education system, as part of VSO's programme to help improve education, especially for the disadvantaged. Perry is working with the Cambodian Government as a management adviser, helping to establish a sustainable fisheries programme as part of VSO's secure livelihoods goals. If you're interested in how we're getting on, our blog is at http://cambogos.blogspot.com/.
As well as the efforts of volunteers like us, VSO also needs financial support to carry out its aim of improving life for disadvantaged people around the globe; as a charity, it relies heavily on public donations for this support. It costs VSO upwards of £15,000 per year to send each and every volunteer, so your contribution counts - it doesn't go to us, but to support VSO's whole programme.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: VSO will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. If you want to donate but do not wish to do so online, you can find options for paying by post at http://www.vso.org.uk/giving/. You can also donate by phone on +44 (0)20 8780 7500. If you decide to do either of these, please let Sarah and Perry know by e-mail at sarahjanejago@googlemail.com or perryjago@googlemail.com.
So please sponsor us now - and then pass this page on!
Thank you so much for your support.
