Jack died on Christmas Day, not in a hospital but at home surrounded by those he loved and who loved him, just as he wanted. He had been a senior editor at Reuters where, judging by the dozens of tributes from his colleagues, he was much admired for his professionalism, much respected for his judgment, and much loved for the irascible side of his character.
Marie Curie Cancer Care provided palliative care for Jack throughout his illness and enabled him to remain at home until the end, as he wished. They do this day in and day out – something we don't think about very much until the time comes to call on their help, which is entirely free. So please give what you can in Jack's name to enable these wonderful people to continue to provide specialist care for patients and support for families.
